    Economic Cluster decision on farming season funding

    South Sudan’s Ministerial Economic Cluster approved the release of 72 billion South Sudan Pounds to support preparations for the upcoming farming season. The allocation is framed as part of a three-month action plan for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (Eye Radio).

    Meeting chaired by Prof. James Wani Igga

    According to a post on the official page of the Office of the Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, the decision was reached during the Cluster’s ordinary sitting held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The session was chaired by Prof. James Wani Igga (Eye Radio).

    Agriculture ministry request heads to Council of Ministers

    The funding request was presented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol. The same communication indicates the proposal will be tabled before the Council of Ministers for final approval (Eye Radio).

    Lands and housing priorities presented to Economic Cluster

    During the meeting, members also received a briefing from the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Michael Chanjiek Geay. He presented what were described as key priority areas and activities of the ministry (Eye Radio).

    Finance report highlights recovery and macro-economic stability

    In a press statement, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Lily Albino Akol, said the Cluster passed a report presented by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Dr. Bak Barnaba Chol. The report focused on economic recovery, fiscal discipline, and macro-economic stabilization (Eye Radio).

    Officials underline economic management and food security goals

    Hon. Lily Albino Akol said the meeting passed three agenda items and emphasized the importance of the Economic Cluster’s deliberations. She linked the process to strengthening economic management and supporting food security efforts (Eye Radio).
