Health Reform Project Gains Momentum in South Sudan

On Saturday, Undersecretary of Health Dr. Kennedy Ganniko briefed officials and partners on the Health Sector Transformation Project, a flagship government program designed to modernize clinics, expand services, and lift public health indicators nationwide (Eye Radio).

Call for Unified Front Among Stakeholders

Dr. Ganniko stressed that fragmented efforts weaken results. He urged national departments, international donors, and frontline workers to synchronize plans, share data, and speak with one voice to confront funding gaps, infrastructure deficits, and service shortfalls.

The Ministry’s Project Management Unit monitors every activity under the transformation project, liaising with donors, tracking milestones, and guarding resource efficiency. Officials say transparent reporting will boost confidence and keep lifesaving interventions on schedule.

Paving the Way to Universal Health Coverage

Aligning ministry budgets and partner projects to the universal coverage agenda, Dr. Ganniko predicted, will bring affordable, quality care to all communities. He highlighted accountability as a prerequisite for sustainable, people-centered health governance.

    Youthful Optimism Meets Persistent Challenges

Young professionals in Juba welcome the initiative yet point to rural staffing shortages. “If the plan reaches villages, mothers will no longer walk for days,” said nurse Achol Deng, reflecting cautious hope amid persistent logistical hurdles.
