    Nationwide Security Snapshot

Major General James Monday Enoka briefed journalists on a trio of incidents that stretched police resources last week, underscoring lingering security challenges despite recent stabilisation efforts in South Sudan (Eye Radio).

    Juba Checkpoint Shooting

At 2:00 PM on 4 October, unknown assailants in a private vehicle opened fire on a Tiger Division patrol near Seventh Day Roundabout. One soldier was killed, another wounded. Suspects were arrested minutes later and held at Malakia Police Station pending motive verification.

    Market Brokers Confrontation

Four hours before the shooting, rival brokers clashed inside the bustling Konyo-Konyo commercial hub. Swift deployment of riot units dispersed the crowd and restored order. Sixteen suspects are now facing charges, with investigators examining possible economic or territorial triggers.

    Upper Nile Assault Response

Police in Upper Nile apprehended a 16-year-old boy accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on 2 October. Medical teams are treating the survivor at a local hospital, while child-protection officers coordinate psychosocial support and evidence gathering.

    Police Assurances and Public Cooperation

General Enoka affirmed that calm has returned nationwide and pledged transparent follow-up on each case. He invited residents to share information through confidential hotlines, stressing that collective vigilance remains critical to safeguarding communities as the country pursues broader peace-building goals.
