Speaking in Juba, police spokesperson Maj Gen James Monday Enoka insisted security across South Sudan is “generally calm”, noting a fall in crime reports compared with previous weeks. He nonetheless acknowledged isolated deadly events still surface and said investigators are pursuing each case diligently (Radio Tamazuj).

At sunset in Lemon Gaba on Monday, three children climbed into an unattended vehicle. Two suffocated before help arrived; the third survived and is hospitalised. Police have opened a negligence file and vowed to hold the owner accountable.

Hours later, the same neighbourhood heard gunfire. Unknown attackers sprayed bullets, killing three civilians and wounding four others. Gen Enoka refrained from labelling the assailants rebels or bandits, stressing that the Criminal Investigation Department will identify suspects before any public conclusions.
Torit road ambush and family assault
Reports from Torit, Eastern Equatoria, added two separate alarms. A commercial vehicle came under fire along Torit Road, and a 22-year-old man sustained injuries after an altercation with his father over rumours. The father was promptly arrested, police confirmed.
UN staff arrest and call for vigilance
Authorities further detained a United Nations staffer from Burkina Faso and a married woman for alleged sexual misconduct, saying the case is under investigation. Gen Enoka urged citizens to keep phones open to law enforcement. “Silence hides crime; swift reporting saves lives,” he remarked.
