    Oath Ceremony in Juba

At the Presidential Palace in Juba, Chief Justice Dr. Benjamin Baak Deng swore in five newly appointed officials on 3 September 2025 as President Salva Kiir looked on and reiterated that public office is first and foremost a service to citizens.

    New Ministers Take Charge

Dr. Joseph Geng Akec now heads the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Mary Nawai Martin oversees Youth and Sports, while Dr. Wek Mamer Kuol steers Parliamentary Affairs. The line-up also includes Western Bahr El Ghazal Governor Sherif Daniel Sherif and Counsel General Sarah Peter Nyot.

    Justice System Overhaul Pledge

President Kiir directed Dr. Akec to prioritise fair and impartial justice by reforming the system, highlighting the administration’s intent to strengthen rule of law and rebuild confidence in national institutions.

Peace Agenda for Western Bahr El Ghazal

New governor Sherif Daniel Sherif was urged to restore peace and reconcile communities across Western Bahr El Ghazal, a step Kiir framed as essential for unlocking development opportunities in the agriculturally rich state.

    Call for Integrity Resonates

“From today, serve the people and not yourself,” Kiir told the officials, underscoring a broader push for integrity and accountability meant to revive public trust and accelerate peace and development in South Sudan.
