Juba County security situation stabilises in Mirikiyo
Security conditions have stabilised in Mirikiyo Boma, Rokon Payam, in South Sudan’s Juba County, after violent clashes erupted among cattle herders. Local authorities say the area has returned to calm following the deployment of security personnel and a joint operation presence.
Gunfire triggers flight to Rokon Centre schools and churches
Juba County Commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezibon said the incident began after gunfire broke out in the cattle camps. He stated that many civilians fled their homes and sought temporary shelter at Rokon Centre, with schools and churches hosting a significant number of those affected.
Displacement figures and reported incidents in Central Equatoria
Speaking at a Wednesday evening press conference, Emmanuel Tete Ezibon put the number of displaced people at about 2,031. He added that two houses were burned, one person was injured, and a rape case was reported during the unrest in Mirikiyo Boma.
Medical care provided in Juba, officials say
According to the commissioner, the injured person and the rape survivor are receiving medical treatment in Juba. He said state authorities responded by bringing food assistance and reinforcing security deployments to reduce immediate risks and help displaced families.
Joint operation rescues abductees and arrests suspects
Emmanuel Tete Ezibon said two people were abducted during the incident. He reported that, with security forces on the ground and the involvement of the Terekeka County commissioner and members of the state parliament, the abducted individuals were rescued and two alleged perpetrators were apprehended.
Security deployment continues as investigations move forward
The commissioner said security forces have remained deployed in Mirikiyo Boma and surrounding areas while investigations continue. He said the joint operation and commando leadership were central to restoring calm and maintaining order after the clashes.

Emmanuel Tete Ezibon said the army deployed in the area is tasked with preventing renewed clashes and keeping the situation under control. He also appealed to young people not to take the law into their own hands, stressing the role of formal security structures.
Displaced families transported back to their bomas
Officials said those displaced to Rokon Centre have returned to their respective bomas. Emmanuel Tete Ezibon stated that, on Wednesday morning, the two counties—Terekeka and Juba—mobilised trucks to transport displaced residents back, describing the move as a coordinated effort.
