SportPesa League Transfer: Gor Mahia Confirm Signing

Record SportPesa League champions Gor Mahia have completed the signing of South Sudan international Jackson Dwang from Posta Rangers, strengthening their squad for the second half of the season (SportPesa Blog).

The club said the attacking midfielder signed a two-year contract, ending weeks of speculation after reported interest from several league rivals (SportPesa Blog).

Jackson Dwang Profile: From Posta Rangers to K’Ogalo

Dwang had built a strong reputation in the league through his performances for Posta Rangers, where his energy and creativity made him a central figure, according to the report (SportPesa Blog).

The same account notes that he returned to form at Posta Rangers after an earlier spell with coastal side Bandari FC, a trajectory that has raised expectations around his next step.

Transfer Race: Kenya Police, AFC Leopards, Nairobi United Linked

The report says defending champions Kenya Police, AFC Leopards and Nairobi United were all keen on the South Sudanese international, but Gor Mahia acted quickly to secure his signature (SportPesa Blog).

In a statement shared on the club’s official social media platforms, Gor Mahia welcomed the player and confirmed the terms of the deal (SportPesa Blog).

“We are pleased to announce a new addition to the team in this mid-season transfer window. Welcome to Gor Mahia Jackson Dwang; the midfielder from Posta Rangers has penned a two-year deal to be part of us,” the club said (SportPesa Blog).

Midfield Reinforcement After Austine Odhiambo Exit

At Gor Mahia, Dwang is viewed as an option to fill the creative space left by Austine Odhiambo, the 2023/24 SportPesa League Most Valuable Player, who joined Lebanese side Nejmeh Sports Club, according to the report (SportPesa Blog).

Head coach Charles Akonnor had earlier spoken about the challenge of replacing Odhiambo after a 4-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, as cited by the same source (SportPesa Blog).

“Austine Odhiambo has been one of our best players and once the opportunity came well we had to part ways. It was a big loss him leaving but he has served the club well, we are looking at the options definitely to replace the vacuum he has left,” Akonnor said (SportPesa Blog).

Nyanza Derby Spotlight: Shabana Clash at Gusii Stadium

The signing comes as Gor Mahia prepare for a Nyanza Derby fixture against Shabana at Gusii Stadium on Sunday, a match expected to draw wide attention (SportPesa Blog).

With the season entering a demanding phase, Dwang’s league experience and international exposure with South Sudan are presented as key factors that could help him integrate quickly and offer another creative outlet in midfield (SportPesa Blog).
