Juba Memorial Service for Eye Radio Journalist
Memorial services for the late senior Eye Radio journalist and Dawn Show presenter Emmanuel Joseph Akile are underway in Juba and in his hometown of Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State (Eye Radio).
In Juba, prayers are being held at the family house in Gudele Block 9. Eye Radio staff and relatives are joined by government officials, members of the media fraternity, and the diplomatic community, according to the broadcaster (Eye Radio).

The family stated that worship during the Wau service is being led by the choir of the Catholic Diocese of Wau and St. Daniel Comboni Parish, reflecting Akile’s Catholic faith (Eye Radio).
Emmanuel Akile Career at Eye Radio and Peace Reporting
From Wau, Akile joined Eye Radio in 2014. He became presenter of the station’s flagship Dawn Show in 2016, a position he held until his death, Eye Radio reported (Eye Radio).
Through the Dawn Show and his reporting on national peace processes, including the 2018 revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan and the Kenya-led Tumaini peace initiative, he became a familiar media voice (Eye Radio).

Eye Radio said Akile died aged 36 on December 30, 2025, after being rushed to a hospital in Gudele following a short illness (Eye Radio).
