    The South Sudan Herald News Network values diverse voices and perspectives from across Juba and all South Sudan states — Central Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria, Western Equatoria, Upper Nile, Jonglei, Unity, Warrap, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, and Western Bahr el Ghazal — as well as from the South Sudanese diaspora worldwide.

    We invite journalists, academics, NGO workers, students, business professionals, community leaders, artists, and concerned citizens to share their expertise, experiences, and stories with our readers.

    This page outlines our editorial guidelines so every contribution meets the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and relevance.


    Who Can Be a Contributor?

    Our network includes:

    • Reporters & Photojournalists covering breaking news and human stories.
    • Researchers & Academics offering data-backed insights.
    • Humanitarian & NGO Workers documenting community realities.
    • Business Owners & Analysts writing about economic trends.
    • Students & Youth Leaders highlighting education, sports, and innovation.
    • Diaspora Writers connecting experiences abroad to realities at home.
    • Cultural Figures & Artists showcasing South Sudan’s heritage.
    • Engaged Citizens raising important local issues.

    Editorial Standards

    All submissions must adhere to these core principles:

    1. Accuracy

    Facts must be correct, sourced, and verifiable. Double-check names, dates, figures, and spellings.

    2. Originality

    We only accept original work not published elsewhere. Plagiarism will result in permanent removal from our contributor network.

    3. Balance & Fairness

    Stories should present relevant viewpoints and avoid bias, unless clearly marked as opinion.

    4. Respect

    • Press Releases – Official statements from recognized organizations.

    Submission Guidelines

    Length:

    • Short reports: 300–500 words
    • Features: 600–1,200 words
    • Opinion pieces: 500–800 words

    Format:

    • Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or OpenDocument (.odt)
    • Include title, author name, city/state or diaspora location, and a short bio (30–50 words).
    • Images must be high-quality JPEG/PNG with captions and credits.

    Sources:

    • Use reputable sources for all factual claims.
    • Include hyperlinks or footnotes for online references.

    Editing Process

    All submissions are reviewed by our editorial team. We may:

    • Edit for clarity, grammar, and style.
    • Shorten articles for space without altering meaning.
    • Request additional information before publication.
    • Reject submissions that do not meet our standards.
