    Late-Evening Assault Shocks Salam Neighbourhood

Witnesses say the party began peacefully before a group allegedly linked to Hai Kamshin barged in around 9 p.m. Music cut short as bottles flew, sending guests scrambling. State police later confirmed the confrontation left 22-year-old Moatasem Mohamed Adam fatally wounded.

    Victims and Medical Response

Two others sustained serious injuries: a 19-year-old whose shattered teeth required emergency dentistry, and a 7-year-old girl treated for bruises at Wau Teaching Hospital. Doctors there report both patients are stable yet remain under close observation for possible complications.

    Swift Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Major Santino Odul Mayen told reporters that several suspects are now in custody at Wau Police Station. “Law enforcement is committed to ensuring justice,” he said, adding that investigators are gathering statements to determine motives and trace potential weapons used in the assault.

    Community Calls for Vigilance

Youth leaders in Wau caution against retaliatory violence, urging organised social events to coordinate security with local authorities. Civil society activist Juma Solomon notes that quick police action “helps calm tempers,” yet insists sustained community dialogue is essential to prevent further clashes.

    Regional Security Context

Western Bahr el Ghazal has experienced sporadic urban violence tied to youth gangs, though overall crime statistics declined last quarter, according to state officials. Analysts argue consistent policing, expanded job creation, and community engagement will be critical to maintain the downward trend.
