Big Leap: South Sudan Sets 2025 Exam Calendar

Confirmed Dates for CPE and CSE 2025

Education minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok announced that the Certificate of Primary Education will run 24-29 November 2025, followed by the Certificate of Secondary Education from 1-9 December 2025. The early disclosure gives schools a full academic year to align teaching plans and study timetables.

    Rising Primary Cohort Signals Confidence

Registered primary pupils have surged to 84,815, an 18.2 percent jump over 2024. Officials see the 15,535-candidate increase as evidence that calmer security conditions and community outreach are drawing children back into classrooms across South Sudan’s 1,953 registered primary schools.

Secondary Entries Dip Amid New Pathways

The 2025 secondary cohort totals 44,364, down 11.3 percent from last year. Education planners link the fall to economic pressures and the pull of vocational work, yet insist the figure remains healthy for a sector still rebuilding after years of conflict.

Equity Efforts for Refugees and Girls

Girls now make up 46 percent of primary and 42 percent of secondary candidates, figures the ministry describes as a “steady climb”. The roll also lists 667 refugees, underlining efforts to keep marginalised learners on track despite displacement.

    Council Tightens Integrity Measures

Kuyok warned that any centre involved in malpractice faces cancellation of results. Supervisors, invigilators and security forces will coordinate to protect exam papers and candidates, aiming for what he called “the highest standards of fairness, transparency and professionalism”.

    Preparation Window Opens Nationally

With dates locked, schools are recalibrating lesson plans, mock tests and teacher training. Headmasters in Juba say the twelve-month horizon offers a rare chance to finish syllabi without rush and to coach pupils on exam etiquette.
