Central Equatoria Governor meets SPLM lawmakers

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony met national lawmakers from the state to discuss hurdles affecting development, according to a statement issued by his office.

The delegation came from the Central Equatoria State SPLM parliamentary caucus and was led by lawmaker Dusman Joyce, the statement said.

Land grabbing and cattle migration dominate agenda

The governor’s office said the talks addressed land grabbing and the movement of cattle herders, issues regularly raised by local communities as sensitive for livelihoods and social cohesion.

In the same discussion, the statement cited concerns around illegal checkpoints and the presence of armed opposition forces in some parts of Central Equatoria State.

Security challenges linked to development and stability

Governor Adil said the issues discussed continue to impede development and stability in Central Equatoria, according to the statement from his office.

He welcomed the engagement with lawmakers and pledged closer collaboration with them to address the challenges highlighted during the meeting, the statement added.

Elections: mobilization, peace messaging, constituency work

Looking ahead to elections, Governor Adil called for broader public mobilization and urged lawmakers to engage actively with their constituents as the election period approaches, according to the same statement.

He also encouraged lawmakers to press armed groups to embrace peace, positioning dialogue and community outreach as key themes in the run-up to the polls.
