New Hiring Wave Across Key Transport Modes

The Ministry of Transport confirmed it will hire 231 new employees for the Railways and River Transport Departments within two weeks, marking one of the sector’s most significant workforce expansions in recent years.

    Technical Committee Defines Recruitment Blueprint

After a joint session, specialists from the Transport and Public Service ministries began aligning technical needs, regulatory standards and funding streams to ensure the upcoming vacancies meet both operational demands and civil-service guidelines.

    Positions Span Engineering to Navigation

Under-Secretary César Oliha noted that positions span engineering, navigation, safety auditing and maintenance, each requiring calibrated qualifications that balance academic credentials with hands-on experience.

Director General of Recruitment Daniel Atem added that detailed job descriptions and terms of reference are being drafted to provide applicants with transparent expectations and merit-based evaluation criteria.

Potential Economic Boost for Logistics Hubs

Analysts say the recruitment drive could energize riverine communities and logistics hubs by injecting fresh technical skills, reducing bottlenecks and improving safety records along strategic corridors.

Final Notice Expected Within Two Weeks

Prospective candidates have been advised to prepare documentation ahead of the formal public notice, expected once the committee’s final plan reaches the minister’s desk within a fortnight.

Earlier in November, the ministry signaled an even broader campaign to hire 400 staff, underscoring persistent staffing gaps and the government’s commitment to modernizing national transport links.
