The Deputy Governor had just returned from Juba, where he received the body of Hon. Charles Ngamunde, hailed as “a man of peace” and “pillar of our government.”
Ngamunde’s burial in Maridi, described as dignified and calm, served as a symbolic rallying point for collective healing.
Security Concerns Under Review
Marona acknowledged recurring unrest in Ketiba, Greater Mundri, Maridi, Yambio and Greater Tombura.
He revealed consultations with senior security advisors in Juba and promised continued engagement “until calm returns to every community.”
Appeal for Patience and Dialogue
Urging citizens to shun rebellion, he stated, “Turning Western Equatoria into a hub of violence will not happen. This government stands for the protection of all communities.”
Marona invited groups “hungry for answers” to pursue dialogue, insisting that killing innocents solves nothing.
