Warrap’s Runways to Prosperity After Calm Returns

    Security Stabilises in Warrap State

Months of relative calm in South Sudan’s Warrap State are reshaping the governor’s priorities. Bol Wek Agoth, appointed in June after intercommunal clashes, now flags infrastructure as the centrepiece of his administration.

    High-Level Talks in Juba

After conferring in Juba with National Transport Minister Dr. Lam Akol, the governor announced a coordinated push on roads and aviation facilities. His press unit framed the meeting as groundwork for “vital transportation infrastructures” needed to connect the state.

    Kuajok Airstrip Prioritised

Top of the agenda is finishing the Kuajok airstrip, regarded as a logistical spine for humanitarian and commercial flights. Officials believe the strip’s upgrade can shorten travel times to Juba and attract traders who previously bypassed Warrap.

    Plan for Akon International Airport

The proposed Akon International Airport, still on the drawing board, is pitched as a regional hub. Governor Agoth argues that a full-scale airport would “open the state to trade opportunities” and provide jobs for youth, easing poverty and reinforcing recent stability.

    Community Outreach Sustains Peace

Parallel to infrastructure plans, Agoth keeps touring counties, dialoguing with chiefs, community leaders and young people. The rallies, officials note, are designed to consolidate peace gains and reassure investors that Warrap’s security trajectory is holding steady.
