    Laboratory Results Spark Rapid Response

Three blood samples sent to Juba returned positive for measles, prompting Morobo’s Health Department to activate an emergency plan. Supervisor Paul Kenyi noted that early confirmation provided, in his words, “the green light to move fast before numbers rise.”

Seven Days to Reach Every Payam

Teams aim to vaccinate all under-fives across the county’s payams within one week. County Health Director James Malish reminded parents that measles spreads swiftly, stressing, “If any village is missed, alert us immediately so no child is left unprotected.”

    Community Trust and Vaccine Safety

Support for Peace and Education Development Program project assistant Banda Elli reassured families about vaccine safety, adding that trained vaccinators are already stationed at designated posts. His message: mobilize neighbours, dispel myths, and keep clinics busy throughout the campaign.

Military Families Also on the Radar

County Executive Director Ezbon Gale appealed to soldiers in nearby barracks to bring their children forward. He underlined that measles does not respect uniforms and that prompt immunization is the surest shield against the highly contagious virus.

    Navigating Insecurity and Logistics

Earlier violence had scattered residents and delayed planning. With relative calm restored, health workers, partner NGOs and local authorities now coordinate transport, cold-chain maintenance and community surveillance to finish the operation despite limited infrastructure.
