    Late-Night Home Assault in Yambio

A Saturday night home invasion in Yambio, Western Equatoria, ended with Christopher James Ezekiel Ndukpo, a senior staffer at Yambio Teaching Hospital, suffering critical gunshot wounds, police confirmed.

Maj. Gen. Phillip Madut Tong said unknown assailants opened fire around 7:30 p.m., then fled, leaving investigators to comb the scene for clues.

    Police Investigation Underway

The commissioner urged residents to stay calm and cooperate with detectives, assuring the community that arrests remain a priority as evidence is gathered.

    Family and Medical Updates

Relatives say Ndukpo, eldest son of county health director James Ezekiel Ndukpo, has served nearly nine years at the state-run facility.

A colleague described frantic emergency efforts after the victim arrived at Yambio State Hospital, noting that surgeons are monitoring his unstable condition.

    Looting Adds to Trauma

Family members are still tallying household losses, stating that valuables were stolen during the raid, though the exact list remains under verification.

    Civil Society Urges Rapid Response

Civil society figure Edmund Yakani condemned the shooting, labeling it part of a rising pattern of armed crime and urging swift protective measures by the new state leadership.

Yakani specifically challenged the governor and deputy governor to prioritize civilian safety within their first one-hundred days, arguing that unchecked robberies and killings erode public confidence.
