“We walk to stay fit, to intercede for families and to thank God for South Sudan,” the Archbishop told participants gathered outside All Saints’ Cathedral.
Lagu framed the march as nation-building, saying generous giving “is service” that fortifies moral leadership amid recovery efforts after years of hardship.
Giving in Tough Economic Times
Inflation has squeezed household budgets, yet donations poured in. The Governor handed a 15-million-South Sudanese-pound cheque, pledging to “keep an eye” on construction progress.
He reminded the church that “Rome is not built in one day,” urging patience while expressing confidence that the economy will rebound and targets be met.
Next Steps for the Expansion
All Saints’ Cathedral seeks to enlarge worship space, classrooms and health outreach offices. Planners say preliminary works could begin before the next rainy season.
Organisers estimate additional funds are still required, but Saturday’s walk has revived public interest and forged a public–private partnership the church hopes will endure.
