    Federal Debate Reaches New Milestone

Juba’s Ministry of Federal Affairs has confirmed a nationwide conference designed to deepen understanding of federalism in South Sudan.

Minister Losuba Loduro Wongo told reporters the event seeks consensus on a governance model that balances autonomy with cohesion after years of heated public debates.

Voices Across Society to Be Heard

Organisers promise dedicated sessions for youth, women, and community leaders, recognising their pivotal role in shaping any future federal arrangement.

“This platform should let every citizen see their reflection in the new structure,” Wongo stated, highlighting the inclusion strategy.

    Global Lessons, Local Adaptation

Panels will dissect examples from Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Germany, assessing fiscal transfer systems, dispute resolution mechanisms, and safeguards for minority rights.

Academics argue comparative insights can prevent design flaws and speed institutional learning while still respecting South Sudan’s singular context.

    Logistics and Expected Outcomes

Preparatory committees are mapping agendas, venue logistics, and translation services to accommodate delegates from all ten states and three administrative areas.

The ministry says outputs will include policy briefs and a roadmap for parliamentary consideration during the constitution-making process.

    Implications for Governance and Unity

Analysts suggest a successful forum could bolster investor confidence by clarifying territorial competencies and revenue-sharing formulas.

Critics caution that expectations must be managed, yet most agree the dialogue marks an essential step toward durable peace and balanced development.
